Sitting at the edge of the Jardin de la Union in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico is the lavish turn of the century Teatro Juarez. The architectural style of this opera house reflects Roman, Greek and Moorish style, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful in all of Mexico.
During the day you can view the inside for a small fee. Every inch of the interior is elaborately decorated. Great attention has been paid to the architectural details such as ornately carved wood work covered in gold leaf.
It’s stage is the host to various artistic performances such as theater and ballet and it also houses photography, music and painting exhibitions.
The exterior of the Teatro Juárez is every bit as detailed as the interior. The entrance is a grand setting flanked by wide steps and framed in by massive stone pillars.
On any given afternoon you’ll find students sitting on the steps enjoying the sunshine. If there’s a spot left it’s a great place to sit and and look out to the busting Jardin and people watch.
Admission is 15 pesos. The use of a camera 10 pesos and a video camera is 20 pesos

I love Guanajuato. I’ve never been inside Teatro Juarez, but I’ve stood on the steps. Thanks for the great pictures! (next time I’ll go inside!)
