Miniature of Angkor is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. If you don’t have time to see all the Angkor temples on your list you can visit this lovely garden to see many of them on a miniature scale. Master craftsman Dy Proeung has hand carved several replicas out of sandstone. The yard and gardens are a tranquil place to spend some time and an escape from the heat on a warm day.
Mr. Proeung carved the temples many years ago, but he still does commissioned carvings today. He has received several awards for his work, including recognition from the King of Cambodia.
The miniature works of art are impressive, each sculpture has been made on a precise scale in comparison with the original temple. Mr. Proeung will proudly show you his original draft drawings. There are sculptures of several main temples such as Angkor Wat, the Bayon and Banteay Srei.
I doubt we would have ever found this place on our own. It is on the east side of the river, tucked down a side street not too far from the town center. The street names can be difficult to figure out. Ask a local for directions, or if you have a tuk tuk driver they all seem to know where Angkor Miniature is. The cost of entry is a nominal fee of a few U.S. dollars.
