As we wandered the town of Siem Reap we noticed tuk tuk drivers involved in some sort of activity on the street sides. They were using the small tiles of the sidewalk as a game board. It appeared to be a complex version of tic tac toe. Each opponent had a different coloured chalk to mark lines in the squares. After watching several matches we determined that the first person able to make five marks in a row was the winner. A stack of Cambodian Riel notes was often sitting to the side, the betting surely added a bit more excitement. At the end of the day there are areas of town where the sidewalks are riddled with chalk, the game is obviously a popular pastime.
