Sit and soak in the luxurious bathtub or curl up in bed while you enjoy the views of jumbo jets taking off and landing. Does this sound like an advertisement you would see on a hotel brochure? It could be used by the Fairmont at the Vancouver Airport.
This isn’t a budget hotel, but the convenience of the location can not be beat. It is literally right inside of the Vancouver International Airport, situated directly above the U.S.A. departure terminal. The International check in area is also within easy reach.
Despite its airport location there are pretty views of the Coastal Mountains.
We have stayed here on several occasions when arriving on a late flight or having an early morning departure. What a great feeling to arrive from a long haul flight and being able to grab your bags and ride the escalator up to bed. In the morning there is no rushing around prior to a flight, no chaos, no traffic, no shuttle. You can have a leisurely start to your day. Order room service the night before so you can enjoy your coffee or breakfast before catching your flight.
Getting to downtown Vancouver is now a breeze with the Canada line of the skytrain connecting right to the airport.
Don’t worry about the noise of a busy international airport or having a room with a runway view, in fact make sure you request one. Every window is sound proofed. A jet can be taking off just a few hundred feet from your room and you won’t hear a thing.
The rooms on the upper floors come equipped with a poweful Nikon telescope to zoom in on the surrounding mountains or airport activity.
This is a full functioning luxury hotel with a bar, restaurant, 24 hour in room dining, health club, pool, day spa, business center and conference and meeting rooms. There’s check in available for major airline carriers right in the lobby. The SkyTrax awarded the Fairmont Vancouver as the best airport hotel in North America for 2011.
At the Jetside bar you can enjoy a cocktail and watch a sports game on one of the large flat screen televisions.
The Globe @YVR Restaurant offers Pacific Northwest Cuisine that can be enjoyed while sitting in front of floor to ceiling windows that offer a panoramic view looking out to the runway. The menu has a variety of options including vegetarian and Japanese options.
Take Advantage Of The Airport Terminal
You can’t access the secured areas while your staying at the hotel, but there are lots of other eating options in the other sections of the airport terminal. There’s also a Starbucks to get your caffeine fix. Walk from one end of the terminal and back to get some exercise, you can check out the shops along the way.

What a fantastic idea! Every airport should have at least one.
